Sigil: The City of Doors

He'd only really been looking to lighten the atmosphere with some light playfulness. But he took her desire as flattery and followed it to its source. Before fading to necromance he almost considered bringing up Fyne again. Telling her he wouldn't mind if she chased her desires to their source. But what she said earlier, and something unknowable deep inside, told him that perhaps neither of them would be okay with that statement. So he refrained from saying it.

She wasn't. But it didn't matter, for she anticipated and acted on the logical next steps.

/Fade to Necromance

"Hey!" He laughs and pulls her in again. His fingers tracing her ribs in an attempt to tease out whether or not she is ticklish.

"Neither of those I have recently met appear to be Lolth worshippers. Planar refugees perhaps? Fyne is not a friend of that kind, just someone I want to help. The lucky devil is the devil I know and have chosen to trust." She couldn't help playing with his charmingly dishevelled haystack.

Her touch always makes him smile. And goodness knows his hair is a glorious mess at the moment.

"I know Illi!" He said in surprise, "Isn't she just the tiniest sweetest little Drow? Completely unlike any Drow I've ever met before. Most are..." He thinks of Jhaamdath, Hannibal, and several old acquaintances, "well... none of those adjectives to be sure. Matter of fact I'd say they're generally egomaniacal at the least, and megalomaniacal at the worst."

"Ahh but I know you'll help your friend." He grinned, "The lucky devil."

"I don't know if I deserve all that praise. I have done little so far. But your optimism is certainly helping." She smiled gently at him and took away a strand of his hair so she could see him better. "Fyne is a Drow whose memories have been blocked away by some superior power. I'll try to help him dig some out. Another Drow, Illiam'iira, reported seeing some golden figure by the Slaadi horde in Limbo, albeit briefly."

"That's all anyone can ever hope to do." He said still waking up. "And though I'm much too dumb to be of any help to you in terms of investigating serial killers. I know you are clever, resourceful, and knowledgeable." He brushes a strand of gold from her eyes, "You find them and I'll kill them. Then I'll hold your hand as you send the dead off to their final rest."

He kisses her head and lets her go. "Who is Fyne again? Actually I don't even know about the golden figure."

"Even though I am trying to find something out about those recent murders, the Kadyx, Rhaunades' killer, Xaositects, the golden figure amid the Slaadi, the necromancer Fyne chased... I am no longer sure how many killers are there and who is responsible for what... There seem to be too many to stop them. You took out one monster, more take its place. I can't even tell when the dragonling died. But all I can do is to give the matter my best effort."

"Of course," he smiles reassuringly, still holding her close, "You think that serial killer killed the baby right? The one in the S.I.G.I.S.?"

"I have no idea what it'd require. But I'll be reassured to have you with me."
