"Violent death when emotions run high is generally inadvisable." Akh Uur Hoon commented in her own way. But as the meeting seemed to be dying down, she quietly stepped away, made final notes, and left.

"Something to watch, although perhaps from a distance. I wouldn't fancy myself against her, well not without a little planning ahead of time."
Her eyes unfocus for a second before snapping back to the Firre.

"Unusual for one of her kind. But that's the point of Sigil, being unusual, being different."
Naila quickly rifles through her memory and finds a recipe for Oerth tortillas that is regretfully jettisoned to make room for this new information.

"Perhaps I'll be investigating The Case of the Planar Riots! Before long. I don't think I'll enjoy that one very much."

"It rarely ends well when someone builds a political agenda on sour grapes. I am afraid that this isn't a one-off outburst of a disgruntled firre, but an opening salvo of a bigger power play." The Illumian remarked quietly.

Arcana, Speak friend: 1d20+2 22

History, Speak Friend: 1d20+2 11

Although Naila had little use for general knowledge (which tended to get overwritten by whatever case she was working on). She might well be familiar with at least the magic going on.

When the name clicked with the appearance, the Illumian realised more than enough.

Desten watched the debate and his frown deepened at the speakers words and his eyes narrowed a touch. Whatever thoughts he had about her ideas they were plainly in disagreement.

He was no scholar of history or the ways of magic though so any intricacies of her argument or the situation involving such things likely eluded him.

Pregame. Arcana, then History.: 1d20+11 20 1d20+7 20

[Two unnatural 20s]

Akh Uur Hoon probably realised something.

((You all can make a Arcana check and a History check, if you'd like))

"People are usually deterred by what they are personally terrified of. But they also abhor being terrified, what can spur them into reckless action. Terror feeds upon itself." Akh Uur Hoon watched the Planar bigot depart. "Maybe justice can be stable precisely when it is less inevitable than its ideal, just as a society can be relatively peaceful when no-one calls for its homogeneity."

"Deterrence is my preference. It's a matter of principles, a dishonest act publicly confronted by its truthful result. Most Cagers you can trust to do the ri-, not the wrong thing. In my experience. But there are plenty who are only kept in check by the threat of retribution, as crass as that may be. The Lady herself maintains Sigil through a similar approach to the gods...Although I understand she is firmly on the side of capital punishment."

Naila pauses as the elf speaks on the ancient but often debated practice of pulling up the ladder after oneself.

"Hmmm, I must say the oration is of quality even if the topic is not. But I suppose flashy gimmicks are needed where reason is not. Sigil is the city of doors, not of gates and bars. The whole point is people find their way in."

The detective shoots the speaker a look of intense disapproval."
