She didn't stop him. She tried to make him see the point of his flawed attitude, and it might be that the reason behind his hostility he did understood that she was indeed in the right and touched a nerve. Whatever it was not her problem now.

'' Well, i just commented. Farewell Mr Ikkit.'' She just said as he left the room. Not really in any condensending or hostile manner.

The goblin didn't understood or did not want to understand what she meant. That was the reality.

[OOC]

Not stopping him.

Ikkit listened, his expression going from neutral to outright dismay.

Was she actually that stupid?

He debated simply stabbing her a few a times, then decided that if she was actually that much of a leatherhead there was zero chance of her learning anything and the inevitable running fight to escape the Sensates would be more trouble than it was worth.

So he cleared his throat and spoke in Infernal.

"That you are such a complete imbecile as to miss the point of what I have been saying beggars my imagination. Are you honestly so cretinously unintelligent as to think I would ever, in a thousand lifetimes, trust the fiend you have just stupidly made an enemy of? Of course not. I don't even trust that grinning swindler A'kim, let alone Shemeshka. I certainly have no desire for her active involvement in the Guild on any level, I'm just not enough of a complete and utter moron to think that her hostility would be an irrelevance. And lest you presume to lecture me on respect, a concept you clearly understand almost as poorly as you do my plans, let me advise you that your idiotic little posturing did not show strength, but rather the opposite, as the only power leverage you possess derives from your patron, and not your own ability, as your stance made abundantly clear."

He bared his teeth in a snarl.

"How you have survived to physical adulthood without understanding the dynamics of power beyond a self-satisfied urge to show disrespect to every being around you without first understanding their reach or their capabilities is a greater mystery than the nature of the Lady of Pain. You presume to lecture me on respect, you lackwitted infant?! I would be astonished if you could spell the word."

[/exit Ikkit. If you attempt to stop him in any way, combat will ensue. He's not telegraphing that fact, but I feel that OOC I owe you the heads-up ;) ]

Alynne listens to the goblin and his reasons, actually quite respectfully without interrupting him.

'' And that is were you get it wrong, Mr. Ikkit. And why your idea will never work. You are the one that doesn't get it...'' She said calmly in a friendly tone. '' This might be Sigil true, and you might be in the right when it comes to the functioning of this city politics, but a fiend is a fiend, here in Sigil, in Baator, in Gehenna or the Abyss. She will never be on friendly or benign side, that is not her nature and it will never be. There is no friends or friendly terms with a fiend, they do not understand that very concept because it is not something in their very nature.'' She explained.

'' They only understand strength and power, nothing else, and the mere notion that you try to be ''friendly'' or show them that you try to be ''one of them'' is were you fail.'' She might not be the brightest but Alynne still made a pact with one and has a familiar that is also a fiend, she has some understanding on how they operate.

'' When you put yourself on a situation were you accept whatever they say and you accept without question, they only see weakness, you are nothing but a grovelling pest to be exploited and thrown away the very moment you are no longer useful. In fact you are trash to them right now and will always be, i would not be surprised if she is actually sabotaging you in this very moment while feigning being helpful just because it will be fun to see you fail and cause you misery and pain, that is their nature.''

'' What i did was an incredibly risky and dangerous gamble, i do understand that. I do not know how powerful that particular yugoloth is, probably pretty strong and pretty inluential, but even though i might piss her off, and maybe put myself in more danger, i also shown that i'm willing to stand and demand respect, unlike the bootlickers that follow her in her entourage.'' She adds. '' That might make me someone to be dealt with, or someone that might be more interesting than the group of losers that follow and do whatever she wants with them.'' She said. '' A yugoloth is a yugoloth, and will always be on Sigil or a Prime, there is no difference in there''

'' Your idea will fail, as long as you mantain that attitude. And that is my opinion. Take it as an advise, or not. I took a risk here, as i also took a risk with my own soul with a being far more powerful and influential than that yugoloth. The fact that it backed down just by mentioning him shows you what i'm dealing with in search of my goal and the resolve i must have to fulfill my own dreams.''

'' Are you always going to crawl on the garbage under their foot? Or are you going to demand respect you deserve Mr. Ikkit? Food for thought.'' She finally adds.

He sighed.

"Gettin' a guild for salvagers started. Somethin' t'org'nize. Looking for someone t'be its public face."

He fixed her with his beady red eyes.

"But not int'rested in hitchin' it t'someone as thinks gettin' on Shemeshka the Marauder's bad side is a good idea. They never teach anyone in that Greyhawk yer from how t'handle dangerous operators? That fiend y'just got crossways with is th'King o'th' Cross-Trade. I don’t give a toss what yer standin' with some archdevil or big bad daemon is, yer in Sigil, an' Shemeshka's a major op'rator here. She's the kinda blood I need t'be, if not friendly, at least benign. You think there ain't Sensates as would figure given her yer scalp in exchange for a taste o'what she can offer 'em? You think she ain't got a million ways to make your life harder while she's three wards away with a few dozen witnesses? You might not be afraid o'her- I ain't afraid o'anyone but the Lady, as it happens- but you just went an' compl'cated all nine Hells outta your life in this city."

'' Wait a moment.'' She said to the goblin before he had left. '' Now that we are alone Mr. Ikkit, what is that thing about a guild you talked about?'' She asked, more out of curiosity than anything else.

Ikkit shook his head again, and headed for the door.

There really wasn't anything useful to say.

Alynne just made a courtsy, and didn't even comment over what the yugoloth said. There was no need. She made her point and while the yugoloth was indeed more powerful than her, that didn't mean that she didn't deserve respect.

She was no lackey to anyone and the tone that the yugoloth used pissed her off, but like the fox-creature, she was willing to serve if the payment was good. No wonder she had made a pact with a yugoloth lord.

Re: [D5 - LA] Vulpine Dealing (expecting)

by Shemeshka » Sun Aug 20, 2023 12:22 am

"I am well aware of his rank among the Yugoloths. That's why you get to walk out of here today. Not the witnesses here." She glances in the direction of the goblin. "Not the faction." Her claws are still out her face has not yielded in its rage. "I dare say, it is the only reason. Just bear in mind one thing: the cost of having your blood on my claws is a few hours of inconvience with the higher ups. Do your best to make sure it doesn't become a worthwhile expense. Your master will not suffer fools in his service, after all, and I would be thanked for removing one before they became a liability..."

With that, she turned around and stormed out of the room.

Ikkit shook his head and sighed.

'' Indeed, my Lady.'' She said calmly as she goes to the front door. '' I might be insignificant and disposable. But this private room is still in Sigil, in the Civic Festhall, within the Society of Sensation, with many witnesses...'' The Yugoloth might be powerful, but not as powerful as an entire faction within its own turf.

'' And while my master might be in another plane. The Branded King is still one of your kin, my Lady, and he does not forgive, nor forgets, and he will know.'' She adds not to intimidate, but to remind Shemeshka that Malkizid still is a yugoloth lord with multiplanar reach.

'' But let's be done with this disagreement, it was never my intention to this situation go into this. If i was disrespectful i'm truly sorry, my Lady.'' She was back to her normal calm. '' It would seem that you are interested in whatever this sage was looking for, i have no idea nor care about what you wish to do with such information, but if the payment is reciprocal, then i'm willing to work with you to achieve your goals.''
