((We'll keep it simple. Pay a 10 gold and pick a number between 1 and 100, then roll a 1d100. Get it right, and you get a magical shiny something or another. Get between 10 of that number and earn back 2x the amount. Get between 10-15 and earn 1.5. Get between 15-20 and you'll earn a free spin.))
Sure, it was a gully's bet, but Thad had taken care of business and now it was time for pleasure. He didn't see Verden around, so he'd have to settle for the Wheel. He'd never won a big jackpot like this and tomorrow was Taker's day, so why not?
He places a platinum piece down on the golden square. The first spin comes up seven, a traditionally lucky number and one that paid out for him. Taking this as a good omen, he lets it ride. The next few were high numbers. Thad chuckles to himself, maybe he should've put some down on sixty-nine... He looks around to see if there's any sign of Verden, guess she's taking a working lunch today. The Wheel gave them a twenty-one, 'nother auspicious number, one that got him twenty gold back.
Then it happened. When the Wheel came to a stop it was as though time slowed. For a fleeting moment, he saw the marker pushing against the peg, edging towards the next square, but then it settles back. When the dealer announces the Mage's Prize, Thaddeus gives a
mirthful leap of joy, nearly ramming his horns into the ceiling. "I WON! I did it, I won." He does a little jig in place while those around him celebrate his good fortune. "A round of drinks on me ladies and gents."
