Jemorille listens with interest at Akh's understanding of what has happened so far and chimes in. "A interesting theory, but there is a flaw in your thinking. Cirily, in fact, hates the Fated Factol. It's what sparked the Planarists to be created. I sincerely doubt he would give support to someone who openly despises him, but then again, who knows with you mortals..."
"She may hate him all right, the question is whether she does what serves his interest. Resentful can be radicalised, radicals can be manipulated. If this is the case, he has something very precious, plausible deniability. But then, I can just be wrong. I am grasping at straws, frankly. The dark of it is why its is some random Dustwoman who makes an effort to figure it all out and not the Mercykillers? On the other hand, maybe they are on it, they are just... biding their time." It was probably no secret that the factols of the Fated and the Mercykillers were on good terms.

With Thaddeus leaving to gamble, his sense of resignation remained at the table and affected Akh. Maybe it was entirely above her league to determine anything on this complicated matter.

There's a few eyes on you as do your victory dance over your winning streak. You're handed your reward, a Immovable Rod, with some resentment, though you and a sense of annoyance that perhaps you've done enough of the wheel for the day and are encouraged to, instead, try to spend your newfound winnings on the tables.
Thaddeus takes the Immovable Rod and stows it in an interior pocket of his cloak, "This will make a fine addition to my collection." On his way out of the Wheel room he tosses a platinum piece to the dealer as a tip.

((We'll keep it simple. Pay a 10 gold and pick a number between 1 and 100, then roll a 1d100. Get it right, and you get a magical shiny something or another. Get between 10 of that number and earn back 2x the amount. Get between 10-15 and earn 1.5. Get between 15-20 and you'll earn a free spin.))
Sure, it was a gully's bet, but Thad had taken care of business and now it was time for pleasure. He didn't see Verden around, so he'd have to settle for the Wheel. He'd never won a big jackpot like this and tomorrow was Taker's day, so why not?

He places a platinum piece down on the golden square. The first spin comes up seven, a traditionally lucky number and one that paid out for him. Taking this as a good omen, he lets it ride. The next few were high numbers. Thad chuckles to himself, maybe he should've put some down on sixty-nine... He looks around to see if there's any sign of Verden, guess she's taking a working lunch today. The Wheel gave them a twenty-one, 'nother auspicious number, one that got him twenty gold back.

Then it happened. When the Wheel came to a stop it was as though time slowed. For a fleeting moment, he saw the marker pushing against the peg, edging towards the next square, but then it settles back. When the dealer announces the Mage's Prize, Thaddeus gives a mirthful leap of joy, nearly ramming his horns into the ceiling. "I WON! I did it, I won." He does a little jig in place while those around him celebrate his good fortune. "A round of drinks on me ladies and gents."

Excited for a moment to hear Darkwood's name pulled into it, Thad's eagerness is quickly quashed by Jemorille's declaration. Too bad, his Factol would've been very pleased to learn of the Fated's Factol was involved in some way with this debacle.

Feeling himself begin to grow frustrated with how things were going, Thad decides maybe it's time to try his luck on the Wheel. "Don't think I can contribute much more here. I'm going to go try my luck on the Wheel. If you want some games, you can join me when the others here are done Jemorille."

What's the procedure for spinning for the big prize on the wheel? And what is the prize currently?

"I disagree, Cyprian. Sometimes a good mirror for our own thoughts is all we need."

She paused.

"About a week ago a firre by the name Cirily delivered a rather impassioned speech on how Sigil belongs only to the Planars and all Prime migrants should be shown the eponymous door. This Planar chauvinism has been on the rise lately, and the firre in question, a chaotic creature powerful with elemental fire, had a turbulent past with a Prime that had made her crisp for radicalisation. Now, the person to have given support for her is Rowan Darkwood, factol of the Fated. Soon after the speech Rhaunades and all his library fall victim to an arson an the problematic tome, so far in the scholar's safekeeping, is out and about..."

Cyprian was beyond bored of this old codger. "So... basically you're a useless observer in a 'power struggle' between forces completely indifferent to you? How unremarkable. Admit it you're just like the rest of us. You've no true notion of the comings and goings and 'the game' is equally as beyond you as it is us. Honestly, you've so far told us nothing that we couldn't have or wouldn't have gathered on our own."

"The mutilation of the corpses had the sole purpose of silencing both deaders. It means they have had some insight into either the plan or its enactor, likely attained by the contact with the book. This in turn likely means an intricate plan that should remain obscure until its fruition, and the shadowed power behind it to either remain unknown or keep hiding in plain sight. Given how many factions have already been touched by sudden upheavals, I could assume a political goal..."

"Firre. Chaos. Fire. Cirily. Darkwood. Planarism."
He does look curiously at Akh. "I would say terrorism for chaos' sake. But what's that about Darkwood and Planarism?"

"Don't have the potions or any of it anymore," he says, shaking his head. "They belonged to the dead. Don't know if they ended up in the mortuary with the murder victim or with the authorities."
