Be It Ever So Humble [Day 2, Midnight, Ikkit's Kip] [Closed]

Fekt croaked and Ikkit let himself sigh.

Home.

He'd threaded through the razorvine as usual, set a different tripwire, and eased the door open just slowly enough to keep the bell from ringing.

And now...

He set Fekt into the little terrarium he'd built from choice bits of flotsam, and smiled as the frog- toad?- locked in on one of the crickets in there.

He set the sack down in a corner, and started removing his ragged attire.

Ordinarily, he'd be out on the streets, making his rounds, but it had been a very profitable day, he'd gotten into a fight with some illusion-slinging arsehole, and he felt like he could take a night off.

He carefully opened the latest bolthole, and dropped thirteen golden coins into it. The pile clinked. He was getting ahead.

He moved over to the remains of a human-sized footstool that suited him as a small bench, and looked at the crude chessboard and the jumbled mess of pieces he'd cobbled together. He'd found a small pamphlet of chess puzzles in a bin in the Ladyt's Ward, and started setting one up one of the easier ones as he hummed under his breath.

Safe.
