The monodrone wiggle-wiggles their arms again, a grin still on their face. "Oh, one then! We suppose we and Mr Elf-face can take the potions then. And...um. It's a... different place from here, that much is true! We're not sure we'll be returning, though. But we could see what we remember to tell you, if you'd like."

The grin is still there, but they sound almost serious.

"We wonder why the attacked sod would be travelling here, though! And what Mr Hooded Perv suggests the sod was kind of important, or thought they were!"

"We wonder what they were, and why here... if that did make any sort of sense".

A chuckle.

OOC:
I'll assume Feature got one potion and 70 GP to record that (and possibly use the GP in another thread later, although I think that'll have to be done on D4). Is that right?

"I don't doubt that they don't care about the poor and unfortunate living here. But we don't know that the victim lived in this area. Most people in the hive don't carry around large pouches of gold and magic potions I imagine. So I am guessing they were probably not necessarily from the hive. Could have been ambushed here by the Hooded Perv while traveling through."

Thad will look over to the modron. "'Tis kind of you to consider me, but I have no desire for them... I wouldn't mind running into you soon. Perhaps you can tell me of where you came from. It must be a fascinating place."

The 'box' mentioned a few times was equally surprised seeing the Satyr return - for a while, at least. Since then, they kept turning their single eye from one side to the other as the exchange happened. They did nod and say a quick 'thanks' when Thaddeus threw one of the bags of coin their way.

"We get both of ya must've had a difficult time growing up, friends.", they say, still grinning. "But we feel we should still report this, one? Or... mention it to someone?"

A hearty smile to both of them, maybe an attempt to calm things down?

"Goatlegs has a point about the hardheads not really coming here much, though", they say looking at Fyne. "We could still go with ya and back though if you want a word with them! Although the last times we mentioned things we feel they didn't take it too seriously!", they add with a chuckle.

One might think that could have something to do with making a report while smiling or laughing, but that didn't seem to occur to the monodrone.

"One, one, since ye're back Mr Goatlegs! There are three of those, would ya want to use one?", they say pointing to the potions.

"Pretty sure I just said I didn't have hardships. I was someone that only looked after myself... not dissimilar to someone that runs off with a murder victims valuables. But it seems judgement gets cast every which way in this city, so I fit right in. And just because I counterspelled in time doesn't make you a hero for getting shot. You can crawl down off your high broom and kiss my ass if you're trying to judge me because you got shot and I protected myself from getting hit by some necromancy bullshit. You don't have to be my friend and I don't have to be yours. For me this is about doing right by the victim, and for you it's about doing right by you first, by your own admission. It's evident we don't have the same motivations."

Sitting atop his broom and listening to the drow's life story, Thad looks less than impressed. "Yes, I'm sure it's been a very... difficult path for you." His broom sways side to side as he leans back and continues, "It seems you've learned many lessons from the hardships of your youth. Lessons like not judging too quickly, such as assuming someone's guilt because they don't fall in line with your decree, even if that someone was the only one to shed blood this night." He looks over to where the deader'd been getting his bone-box sawed off before their intercession, "Well, almost the only one. Lessons like not sending the 'thorities after a cutter that's just lookin' out for himself... Yeah, it sounds like you're well-lanned now."

"I grew up in a place where I was the bastard on top ruining lives, forcing them to grow up the way you had to. I work against that now, and protecting other people is more important than my comfort now. So it may not be how it works in Sigil, but it's how I work. And while the grand equation of the multiverse may not give a squat about the guy, and he may not have cared about himself, I do."

Nodding along with the drow, Thad tilts his head a bit at the end, "Well... that's not really how things usually work 'round here." He gestures around the alleyway, "'Specially here here. If you come down to the Hive, you're risking it. If you come down to Suicide Alley, you probably don't even consider it a risk, more like a foregone conclusion. Not to say that's what that poor sod was looking for nor that he deserved what the perv did, but that's the cage."

He starts digging through the pouch, doing some quick calculations in his head while still talking. "Me, I grew up on these streets. You learn real quick you protect what's yours and you take what's not protected, else you join the dead-book."

Finishing his audit, he pulls out a hundred and forty gold pieces, drops seventy into a second pouch and the other seventy into a third. Looking up, he tosses a pouch to each of them.

Fyne notes Thaddeus's return and raises an eyebrow. "I'm not a fan of them. I'm still going to file a report, because the more eyes open for the Hooded Perv, the better. But I also don't want the coin to just end up lining their coffers. They're a bunch of jackasses as far as I can tell. So, we can probably use some of the coin to hire a private investigator to track down the victim's killer or the victim's family to return some of the stuff." Fyne says.

After Thad had flown off, being ever curious, he sends Cornelius flying back unseen to park his ears and scan for what would happen after his exit.

Listening to the drow and the modron wigwag a bit and hearing they wouldn't necessarily dump the jink, at least not his share of it, with the Hardheads, Thad turns his broom around to settle up. Better to be done with it here and now than to carry a debt.

Thad sweeps in on his broom, coming to a sudden halt in front of the two. He leans forward conspiratorially like he's about to spread some dark, "So... a little birdy told me you might have something better to do with this than make a sodding donation to the Hardheads?" he pulls the pouch of coin off his belt and dangles it in the air.
