A knight who goes in the dark woods without their enchanted sword is not brave but foolish. I myself always have my arcanic armor ready to be deployed when wandering dangerous locations.

I could see the insight of something like taking a few extra boxing or martial arts lessons to not be as vulnerable during the moments I require to put it on. But getting punched in the face repeatedly to please the crowd doesn't seem nearly as learning an experience."
