Akh must have phased out for some reason at some point because she wasn't entirely sure what they were talking about. Or it must have been something explained earlier.

[Mysti]

Mysti, who had been sitting silently and still, enshrouded in unnatural shadows so that her countenance was unclear and semi-hidden, asked in a rather quiet, whispery voice, "So ... is an expedition to the City of Brass still needed? If not then -- I will probably go ahead and take my leave."

If anyone paid any attention to the way Mysti was behaving, it seemed as if she very much wanted to leave as, even through the supernatural shadows, she was obviously uncomfortable in the worst kind of way.

"I'm not ... really leading the expedition in any event. Therefore ..." But whatever 'therefore' she had in mind, she never gave life, for her voice trailed off into silence.

"Just let me know. If someone needs my particular ... skillset. I am at your service. If you do not speak to me here but would need me later, I can be reached at the Golden Bariaur Inn. Just leave a message with the doorman ((OOC: PM)) and I'll receive it."

After speaking, she leaned back in her chair, massaging her temples. Gods -- she felt awful. Really awful.

"I'm still game for a jaunt to the City of Brass. If you have unfinished business, I'll offer my assistance. Won't even charge you for the service."

[Mysti]

Mysti chuckled softly -- it was almost completely under her breath and lost within the noise of the room. But it was there.

"Well ..." she looked up at Thaddeus and forced a bit of a smile. But it wasn't much of one. Anyone with a set of eyes could tell her emotions were strained. "I'm glad you're not charging since I'm certainly not wealthy. Besides, I would just forward the bill to the Harmonium. Let them pay you. I can't remember ... did I ever get your name? My apologies if I did and don't remember."

"Well, if we're talkin' billables, then I can offer a very favorable rate for my good clients among the Harmonium. Paid upon satisfactory resolution of course, and with a hazard pay rider as well as a special services schedule.

Cyprian introduced us earlier Miss Mysti, but I don't blame you for losin' track, it's been a very eventful meetin'. The name's Thaddeus, Factor of the Society of Sensation."

[Mysti]

"Ah, right ... right, my apologies for forgetting your name so ridiculously soon." Mysti said, her voice still quiet and silky -- though in a tired sort of way. "You're not kidding about it being eventful, my dear Thaddeus. Just ... in ways you're probably not aware of. Only two or three of us in here ... are."

Her gaze surreptitiously traveled to where Cyprian and Akh are, but the rest of her expression remained decidedly neutral.

"Well ... if you wish to be paid, I'm sure the Harmonium will pay whatever reasonable expenses you wish covered." She gave Thaddeus a sly little grin -- brief though it was, continuing with, "Just don't get too carried away. I would hate for them to order me to come after you."

A little Harmonium humor perhaps. "Well ... I'll see about getting things started."

Akh concluded that the meeting in itself held no more inherent value and was becoming both a distraction and a social target practice. For all her empathy for the broken things, she was a dead introverted person. As such, she knew a tried and tested fix for situations of this kind. Somewhere across the Planes there will always be places where existence is wasted for petty squabbles and empty posturing. But there will also be places where it needn't be, and she rose to leave for one of them, giving the gathering a silent farewell.
