Said illithid returned the silent with a subtle head nod as they took place in the line right behind the near-human. Arms crossed within their sleeves the flayer seemed to be making mental calculations, a hovering notebook sometimes opened for them to scribble something in it.

Show-off. Akh thought with some amusement, the symbols in her halo circling lazily.

The mind flayer tilted their head as something came to bother them but whatever it happened to be was pushed aside swiftly enough.

It was clear he presumed you both came in together.

They of course didn't but Akh Uur Hoon didn't know what was Utadas' order of business, so perhaps it was just her cosmic luck to be matched for an interview with an illithid.

"Good afternoon, Master Tensar. I am Akh Uur Hoon, previously a scholar of Elirhondas. I have indeed come to seek honest gainful employment that could be commensurate with my knowledge and skills. I've been thinking of myself as a private tutor, a library clerk or an archivist, but perhaps in the course of conversation we can discover other applications of my abilities that the job market requires."

It was enough of an introduction, so she paused to let the Illithid speak.

''Good afternoon ser Tensar.'' they mentally broadcasted to both mammals ''I am L'Orr-hui, factotum of the Free League and manager of The Extended Tentacle where I offer my services in the matters of arcana and psychotherapy.''

That was rather uncomfortable. Less so that the creature spoke directly to her thoughts, and more than they were specialised in more or less what were her strengths. But then, if he ran a business and still came seeking work it couldn't have been too profitable so far, so perhaps there was nothing to be too competitive about.
