Day 3 MA: Preparing for the excursion (Lady's library)

[Thaddeus]

"Oh definitely. Yeah, the berk couldn't keep his bone-box shut. Told us he took the jaw to keep the deader from talking. Told us he was workin' to keep the planes from being torn up. And he told us the deader was on his list because he wouldn't leave somethin' alone, but it was still in play because the Cuprilach'd done his job. Those are the Rilmani assassins."

[L'Orr-hui]

''The Rilmani? That is a name I have not heard in a while...This explains that. I wonder what caused them to act so but I cannot blame their motives, only their choice of execution.''

[Thaddeus]

Thaddeus looks to the stack of materials documenting various encounters with and studies of the Rilmani over time. "In theory, I'd agree with their stance. Who wouldn't 'cept a madman? In practice though, I don't trust it. Seen too much corruption from everyone to believe they only act for the Balance. Can't convince me no one's paid the garnish to get an adversary or competitor nicked. Even if they haven't, nothing like a zealot to jump to the wrong conclusion all too quick. Been on the receiving end of that real recently."

[L'Orr-hui]

''Thus my reticence for their choice of execution. If there is one then there might be others...one could go ask how the balance was threatened. The assassin seemed to be quite voluble.''

[Thaddeus]

Thaddeus seems to ponder it a moment, "I 'spose we didn't ask what the deader was doing to get nicked, just tried to get him to 'splain himself. Hoped to get more details so I could figure out who he worked for... which worked out. Asking him specifically why the sod was on his list might've also worked in this instance. If I run into him again, I'll be sure to do that."

''They might also have a presence in the city'' the illithid replied ''But they can be hard to find if they do not want to be''

[Thaddeus]

"You make another excellent point... Well I guess an excellent extension to your previous point. Since they are so confident of their power and so assured of their purpose, they very well may give an audience." Thaddeus rifles through some papers for a moment, "By all accounts here, they keep to themselves in the Outlands. So I may not find them in the city, but at least they're not far. Also says they don't have a hierarchy or government.

''Still. They hardly are a rash species. Action are backed by long deliberations...they might have discussed it with others.''
