Now that the illithid had a solid foot in the temporal problem's door they thought it would be time to follow up on Cyprian's origins. L'Orr-hui knew that the man rather enjoyed his time in Sigil, never lacking company, but home would eventually call.
To live one must be free and that is difficult if stuck in a cage.
The probe had taken some time but it proved to be quite valuable

You spend some time sprawling thru the books, but there are a few books on the subject, seemingly put in a more restricted section: the one where the infamous Mages of the Shoreline would not want you to trend. They weren't here, however, so you would ignore their inclining and focused instead on another book, written by a kobold scholar, discussing the very nature of Midgard. Sure enough, most of what Cyprian had informed you of was true.
There's some details of vampire kingdoms, a forest of the fey, and their gods taking on multiple forms and names in order to siphon off worship and divine power.
How to get there, however, was still not clear. It didn't seem all that feasible to get to here from there, much less how to get 3 people from that world back to it.

The illithid stood over the tomes, perplexed. A nigh unknown plane in a near restricted section?
This is curious and a contradiction. I will have to delve into this later...in an other library, perhaps.
