Ever a bull in a china shop he almost knocks over a tower of books as he pulls up a chair.

"Hehe, sorry." He whispered.

"Please be careful." She winced, but not having the heart to reprimand him. "This man initially died by impalement. Just like the previous one. And they both didn't see it coming. We are seeking something that stalks upon the unaware and impales them."

She thought what this could be. A giant spider? It would have left some toxin residue, she guessed. "As for Ikkit, he has professional integrity. There is some goodness in him. He may come round."

"This is why I would suppose a demon." Cyprian nodded. "But then vampires too are rather fond of impalement." He thinks back to the Kingdom back home.

"A vampire would have left their victims exsanguinated, wouldn't they?" She wasn't convinced. Strahd had been way more sophisticated in his cruelty. She recalled Costel... and shuddered.

"So cruelty for cruelty's sake. And yes you are correct somewhat." The unspoken conversation between them continued. Strahd was arrogant and secure in his realm after all. The vampires Cyprian had dealt with were constantly at war with each other. "But more common than road signs were border markings of impaled peasants. Often enough the sign of the vampire count of that land would be visibly etched, or written, in blood."

Illi fidgits where she stands, unsure of when to jump in. It takes a few tries before the drow pipes up:

"...I, uhm, actually wanted to ask... Miss Akh, have you been, uhm, caring for the bodies of the Kadyx victims, and the victims whose jaws were removed? Or do you know who is?"

"Both, actually. I am sorry for not explaining. I was referring to the Kadyx victims when talking about sudden impalements."

"Oh!" Illi claps her hands together. "Yes. Uhm. I was there for, uh, the, haaaaalf? Orc bard." She does not look very happy about that fact. "He was taken to an alley and it got him there. Whatever got him, it either magically moved somewhere, crawled up into a window or onto a roof, or turned invisible, or a mix..."

"Was it, uh, the skull, or did he get stabbed somewhere else?" She taps the back of her skull.

"Didn't see them. But I think they stuck around. Uhm," Illi closes her eyes. "I can sense emotions. I tried sensing around the scene and picked up something."
