Day 6 LA: Cold Trail

Post by L'Orr-hui » Fri Aug 25, 2023 4:13 pm

The illithid had not returned to suicide row for a moment. They did not get a proper meal the last time and now they were here for another reason.

But a meal could still happen

Cloaked with the same garment the people of the Hive and Foundry used to protect them from the foul weather of their districts, L'Orr-hui had gone to where the murder of the apprentice had happened...or, at least, seemed like it. The jaw had been cut by the rilmani but...something was off. Thaddeus had told them that something, likely the book, was still in play. Perhaps the apprentice did not have it on him or perhaps he got nicked and robbed by hivelings beforehand.

Chaos had been the theme of the week, after all.

Chaos could be a subtle thing but it's agents? Less so something must have been overlooked regardless.

Hunger drove you to enter this place once more. Hunger for knowledge and, well, just plain hunger. There's as usual a small line of people lining up to jump once more, and the people offering them some last meals and drinks before they do it. It's a sad state of affairs really...unfortunately for you, you seem to have some other problems to deal with besides hunger...

Thoughts moves faster then the body. While the body might not always be able to move in accordance with the nervous signals, this time it did.

Your mind was busy focusing on clues and food, but not so much that you didn't notice that ooze just crawling around on the ground next to you. You hold your foot up and quickly jump back to avoid it, for anyone in this neck of the woods know that a idle foot step can lead you on a one-way trip to the Para-Elemental Plane of Ooze.

You take a large step over it and continue down the path to where the attack was. It was a few blocks away from the proper jump point, but easy enough to find. A small corner in the wall with a tavern and some small buildings in between it.

The draped illithid observed around for a moment and the tavern caught it's eyes. That could be a good source of information...but the alley was first even if L'Orr-hui had little hope to find anything of use.

Still if that book was so powerful, perhaps a lingering aura of magic could be found.

(Casting detect magic as a ritual, investigate?)

L'Orr-hui got his trusty magical monocle out of a pocket and wiped it carefully. Once done, they affixed it to their left eye and begun the search

Something felt...off...the trail might truly have gone dead, victim of the ravages of life in Sigil and time. But if time was a factor, L'Orr-hui could play a well trusted trump card

You spend a decent amount of time in the alley, searching nook and cranny, finding anything that could indicate a lingering magical aura. There's a bit of a lingering aura around some boxes that seems to indicate that something was there some powerful conjuration magic at this area at some point, but other than that, nothing really concrete can be determined by detect magic.
