Sigil: The City of Doors

"It's pretty simple, really. The Factions aren't right for everyone. If you believe in what they're about and are willing to follow their rules, that's great. But, if you don't believe what they do and want to remain independent, you'll still have to deal with them. They all but run the city. So, you're still limited by their rules." Hush sat Silently as Whisper talked. "But, the Free League isn't a Faction. The only thing we believe is that you shouldn't have to compromise to deal with the Factions. No one should. We work together and support each other to stay independent."

The woman smiled before she walked away. That had gone much better than the ranger thought it would. Who would he talk to next?

An animated suit of rusted armor stumbles into the Bar, a collection of half drunken Guvners shepherding it along. It clanks and clicks loudly, jostled by the Guvners. The namers keep babbling drunkenly about arcane theory and other esoteric terms.

As it's compatriots make their way over to the bar, the suit of Armor stands strangely still, looking at Whisper.

Whisper stared back. Then he got up and approached. This wasn't the first odd look he had gotten here. But, it was odder than most. Hush followed him.

"Hello. Can I help you?"

The suit of armor stays still for a moment, and then quite mechanically points at Whisper, then makes a flapping motion with the same hand, before lowering the hand and tilting it's head quizzically.

"I'm sorry friend." He mimicked the flapping motion. "I'm not sure what this means. Hello? Goodbye? Wind?"

The suit of armor seems to shudder for a moment, then it turns right, then left, then back to whisper. It points to where it's mouth would be if it had one. Then tilts it's head quizzically again, and then cups one hand to the side of it's head, like it's trying to listen to something.

He was clearly still confused. "Perhaps we can talk somewhere else? I'm sure we could find an empty side room."

The armor stands still and quiet. Then it takes off it's head and reaches deep into it's gullet, pulling out an old yellowing piece of parchment. It puts it's head back and seems to take a look at the paper, before giving it to whisper.

In a shaky hand, in antiquated script, it reads,

"FIND OUT EVERYTHING."

Then the armor gestures to a corner booth at the back, far away from the guvners that accompanied it.

He nodded and he and Hush walked over to the booth. He kept the paper in hand, but out of view.

"I'm pretty good at finding things, but specific things."

As you sit down, the suit takes a napkin off the booth table, and produces a quill from somewhere. It's gauntlet is a blur as it jots something down with mechanical accuracy. It shows Whisper the napkin.

"Freedom."

It tilts it's head again.
