[I kind of figure Ikkit knows he's talking about some kind of prophecy, Sigil being Sigil, he's just not even remotely interested]

(It is quite obvious that, on the surface at least, Ignaeus is indeed speaking of prophecy. That is not to say there is nothing to learn here beyond that.)

(The future is the future; or at least whatever Ignaeus thinks is the future. Common assumption? He's selling prophecy, which as Ikkit said, is usually a fool's game. Jury's out on whether he's the real deal or just barmy.)

Ignaeus rises, just enough to look down at Ikkit. He points a the small goblin, his voice strained by something you can't put your finger on.

"You need not eat, if you have a future." His voice is cold and cruel, like the gale of winter or the touch of the void.

"If you have a future, you can always be." He points at the small dead rat again.

"What is written... In the rat... Will always be written. So I must read. So I offer you... A future."

[Krol]

Hearing the tone, Krol takes a moment to ponder his options. (How much is a penny? Is that some primer stuff from one of those no mag places?)

[Ikkit the Bastard]

"'Need not eat'? Got the chant for ya, cutter, day that's true I'll be in the dead-book."

He didn't seem too fussed about the fact that he, as far as his own vocabulary and understanding worked, had just been threatened.

"A rat in hand's worth more t'me'n whatever it is you think you've got t'peddle. An' if you make one move crossways, I'll chew it up 'fore y'can have a look."

Ignaeus sputters and his hands constrict and jitter violently, his whole body seems to shake.

"It must... Hurt.... To think so... Small..." He hisses.

Eventually Ignaeus settles down. He sighs a weary, raspy sigh and begins to turn away.

"What is written will always be written... It makes it way eventually... Keep the rat, and keep... That smallness... No part of it..."

[Ikkit the Bastard]

"What hurts is givin' stuff away t'any random berk rattles his bone-box 'bout wanting something I got without offering anything I need."

He added the rat back to the string, then glanced at Krol.

"You c'n buy his future if you care to. One penny gets you the guts."

[Krol]

"Very well then, I am a little curious." He hands the penny to Ikki, gets the rat, then gives that to Ignaeus. Now let's hear who's future you're talking about.
