"Not really. Been here for a few years, working myself up among the Mercykillers. Avernus born and raised, a vassal of Lord Asmodeus." He puffed up with pride at that. "Sigil is a lovely place though. Weird, in some places. Nothing beats home, though the relatively small amount of demonic incursions and invasions did allow me to spend more time on my hobbies."

"Oh!" She blinks. Mercykillers sounds a little scary, as does him working for Asmodeus, but... Uncle Atarak's not scary... and neither is Gabriel, or Rufus, who's now being scritched, each jawline getting attention so neither feel left out. "I like it -- Sigil I mean -- it reminds me a little of my papa." The way Illi says papa is very silly. High-pitched and playful, with a lot of warm emotion behind it. The thought of her father has her smile and that reaches her voice. "I'm glad to hear that. The Blood War's pretty, erm, brutal, so, uh, it's nice you get a break from that."

"Oh you know, just the usual. Beheading demons, strangling with intestines. Nothing too bad. Doesn't leave too much freetime sadly." He also extended a hand to scratch Rufus. "Oh? Was your papa from Sigil as well?" He didn't mimic or mock her way of speaking about it.

"Oh, I am sorry, I might have too many assumptions. If you are new to Sigil, are you aware of the Factions?"

The tiny drow balks at his hobbies. Note to self, Illiam: never, ever cross this man. Her eyes go down to focus on the pubby.

"Oh, no, he was just... uh..." She wonders how much she should share. "He was a Baneite. Some of the architecture here reminds me of his home. I spent autumns there as a child, but it's been torn down now. So it's nice, seeing a place that looks like that." Oh, if only she knew Rufus better! Then maybe they could hug! "I have heard of some of them, but, ah, the Mercykillers are quite new to me!"

Gabriel nodded grimly. "I have no idea what a Baneite is, sorry melady." He smiled fondly. "Mercykillers administer justice!" His voice hitched up a bit as he spoke of it. "It's a very important duty. Laws make civilization, after all." He smiled widely. "I'm in the middle of duties, actually. Interrogating witnesses, though I'm mostly finished now. If you'd cared to join me another day, I am happy to show you what we do! You can get by without a faction's support, but it can go a long way."

"That's alright, I thought you might not. It's a Toril thing." Gabriel's oddly comforting; he reminds her a little of her father. Not so much in his attitude or mannerisms -- he's much too chipper, or 'undisciplined' as her stoic papa would call him -- but, the man's fierce devotion to order feels familiar.

"Oh, that would be very kind, thank you!" Both of Rufus' heads get two gentle patpats on the lil cheeks before she stands up straight. "I think I would like that very much. You wouldn't happen to know any good libraries or bookstores in the city, would you?"
