"Perhaps there was a time you had no such longings because they were satisfied. The thing about disremembering prior life is that it may be a protective mechanism against living with overpowering regret and remorse that would prevent ever moving on. I would be the last to suggest that you have lived wrong so far, Cyprian. The question is whether you are at a stage when you need to change something, and embrace a different perspective." They walked among tombs and sarcophagi as well as niches of countless urns embedded in walls high toward the ceiling, which was assumed rather than seen as it was shrouded in darkness. Only their pathways were reluctantly lit with dim, cold lanterns.

"I'm an optimist," he shrugs, "I'd like to think that given a second chance at life, I'd choose to step forward. It could also be that I am a silly fool who never learns his lesson in each incarnation. So I've doomed myself to repeat the same mistakes constantly."

He walks a little closer.

"I wonder how close I'd have come to true death had I met... say, a golden haired angel. WIth a razor wit and beauty unparalleled?" He teased. "Of course I imagine dying without that person would explain why I am still here."

"Aasimars are too much into apotheosis on average to be good guides toward the True Death, so it's rather fortunate I am not one." She smiled gently. "I always imagined that final step as a solitary experience, but perhaps it needn't be so." She seemed deep in thought when she glanced at him. "Are you courting the idea of joining the Dead?"

He thought very seriously about it before answering. "I am. At the very least I'm acclimating to the idea of it. Traditionally I've been more... predisposed to something akin to Sensate philosophy." He sighed. "Living life in the moment makes sense to me. Understanding sensations so as to better articulate them is what makes me a good bard. At the very least a good songwriter."

He thinks some more.

"Bards make a living through connections. Creating works and sharing a part of themselves with the world. The hope being that they are remembered when they die." He bites his lip. "I'm trying to parse that desire with the idea of joining the dead."

"I'd rather not suggest anything that might not come to you naturally in this regard. What I can tell you as a funeral celebrant, however, is that few things help more in bringing peace to the departing soul than a dirge that ties the threads of their abandoned life into a lyrical rope they can slip down on into the infinite."

"...a dirge that ties the threads of their abandoned life into a lyrical rope they can slip down on into the infinite."
The artful simile caught him off guard slightly.

"You are what Aasimars aspire to be Akh. Would it be terribly unwise and imprudent if I took you right now?" He said entirely turned on. "No, I shouldn't it would be at the very least disrespectful, and we can't have that." He grins mischievously. "Though I think perhaps you and I might collaborate sometime as you have the gift of wordcraft yourself."

"We shouldn't be disturbing the dead." She said with slight reproof in her voice. "We owe them as much peace as they can have."

"You're right of course." He says still wearing that same mischievous grin. "But you do understand that should I join the dead you can expect all of the terrible jokes right? For instance: If I were dead, might we call my current predicament true rigor mortis?"

"No less than we could call my current state livor mortis that may compel autolysis if I don't obtain fresh.... hmmm... harvest." She replied deadpan, but her eyes were ever so slightly suggestive.

He bit his lip, and the mischief in his eyes turned hot with desire. "You're in danger of becoming my ghoulfriend you know. I hope you don't mind my stiff sense of humor?"
