Day 3 EM: It's about time

[L'Orr-hui]

L'Orr-hui had sent Ratswell deliver a message to their patient. They knew Ratswell was more apt then more runners in the city and could take pathways the others could not.

So for the moment the illithid was standing before the temple of Istus, waiting.

[Fyne]

Fyne arrives and greets L'Orr-hui. "Good morning. Hopefully your evening was less eventful than mine. Saw some murderer mutilating a body in Suicide alley when I headed back to give it a second look. That place seems to be more... eventful, than I was expecting."

[L'Orr-hui]

The flayer turned and narrowed it's eyes. They had some interest in the topic

''Body mutilation? How severe? That might have been the Khadyx or a copycat. Did you manage to apprehend the murderer?''

[Fyne]

"No idea about the Khadyx or what not. They were saying it was about the balance or something. Was removing the jaw because it prevents easily communicating with the dead or bringing them back to life. Was going off about how they were protecting the balance or something. I spent most of the conversation calling them a perv and implying they were a necropheliac because they were playing with dead bodies. Could tell it was getting under their skin. People with big egos don't like that kind of thing, and I am not a fan of murderers so that was fun," Fyne explains.

He looks up at the church, taking in the design and architecture.

[L'Orr-hui]

''Balance...The Doomguard usually spouts such nonsense'' L'Orr-hui thought before turning towards the edifice ''The Temple of Istus, Godess of Time and Fate. A supplicant interceded with the high priestess to commune with her divinity on your behalf.''

[Fyne]

"I appreciate that. I wasn't actually aware of Istus. I sought answers from Labelas Enoreth's priests back on Toril, but they had no answers for me. Hopefully Istus is a separate power and not an aspect of the elven god of time. Some of these gods like to dress up for different cultures and people. But I do appreciate it L'Orr-hui."

"As for the person I refer to as Hooded Perv, me and another of the people in the fight are going to be hiring an investigator to help look into it. I'll keep you apprised because I suspect arcane knowledge and talent may end up becoming useful and whoever it is likely had a lot of magic gear or innate power. Just have to get more information on them first."

[L'Orr-hui]

''Very well'' the flayer replied, ascending the stairs ''Lady Akh Uur Hoon of the Dustmen also has taken an interest.''

[Fyne]

"I met her the other day. Had to ID a friend's body and she was the one seeing to it," he replies. "I'll have to chat with her later, see if a body turned up without a jaw. The Hooded Perv didn't do so well in the fight and had to take the body and flee."

Fyne follows teh illithid up the stairs. "So, what world is Istus from originally? Or at least the worship of them?"

[L'Orr-hui]

''I do not know much more than that she is of the Vana'dielian pantheon. Her name came across my research.''

[Fyne]

"I'm not familiar with that pantheon," he replies with a shrug. "But if she's willing to listen and guide, I'm not going to say no."

He then mentions something else. "I had a 'nightmare' last night about being hunted in a world that had a whole bunch of vampires in it. One of them scratched my side as I was just barely escaping. The spot they scratched me was the same as this scar," he says, lifting his armor a bit and showing a claw shaped scar just above his hip. "So I guess that somewhat explains how I got that scar. Didn't have any context for it though. It began with me being chased and ended with me being chased, no start or resolution. Terrifying creature though. I wonder if my fight with the Hooded Perv triggered it."
