He looks over at Akh and sighs. "Fine, I'll pencil you in for a appointment. Just keep his time in mind, please." With that, he pencils you in. "Please go thru the side doors. Fortunately for you, there doesn't appear to be too big of a line in front of you. Most people are outside, looking for work, so only the truly sick are here with you.

Unfortunately, the feeling of bleakness of the outside returns once again as your eyes adjust to the low light and drab décor of the waiting area. People sitting in chairs, coughing, looking as miserable as they feel as they wait their turn for the doctor.

Not feeling particularly patient, Thaddeus pulls out a small pouch of coins and dangles it in the air. "Okay cutters, who wants some jink? A gold piece for whoever leaves in before I reach zero." Thad reaches into the pouch and takes out a small stack of coins. Starting from twenty, he counts down while bouncing the coins in his hand. Each time the coins fall back into his hands, another number is counted off.

Akh was appalled. She questioned her choice of company. Leveraging financial strife against suffering was cruelty. She said nothing, but she threw herself into expediting medical assistance to anyone leaving.

"Thaddeus please," Cyprian says casting a minor illusion that would whisper directly into his ear. "If you make a scene he might not see us at all."

He'll then aid Akh as best as he can playing nurse.

About half of the people in there look around and almost immediately start to get up from their chairs and start to walk to you, palms out for their promised coin. Whether they were just faking it in hopes to be fed or were smart enough to realize that waiting a little longer to be examined for more more jink that they would see in a month's of honest labor was hard to determine, but at least the room is a little bit emptier than it was before.

Those that chose to stay stay seem too sick to make that choice. Those that chose to leave, upon examination, seemed rather tame: coughs, chills, a little bit of swelling on their arms from a pus pocket that needed to be drained. They're mostly simple matters that any proper doctor could take care of in the right environment, but nothing so life threatening to feel like they had a difficult decision to make.

For a gold coin, those who needed the help of this doctor would happily suffer for a few more hours.

After he counts down to zero, Thaddeus speaks up proudly, "There, now you see, the ones who didn't really need to be here have more jink in their pockets and the ones who actually need help have a shorter wait. Everybody wins."

He takes a seat and pulls out an impressively sized chunk of wood that's slowing beginning to take shape and his woodcarver's tools. Quietly, he sets to work meticulously working away small pieces of wood to reveal more of his sculpture, a Lillend winding her way up a spiral staircase.

The mindflayer's reaction to Thaddeus's perceived lack of etiquette was, contrary to the other two, cool approval. L'Orr-hui suspected that time was of the essence if the doctor's mind was already being warped by the book.

If they were going to wait, at least they should make sure the doctor remained on site

Thus a spell was weaved once more and for a brief second a small eye flickered into existence before vanishing from sight.

(casting arcane eye: invisible eye will go spy on the doctor and the surroundings)

The arcane eye whips thru the air and disappears. The building itself, however, a bit larger than you surmised, as it is clear there are 3 stories to this building. On the next side of the door are examination rooms, where there are several patients waiting to be checked on. Followed further down the hallway by a storage unit. It would take some time to figure out where the doctor is, and even then, if you could even ID him.

The atmosphere inside still is dreary in its appearance and the floor has some splattering' of dried blood upon its tiles.

He pretends to not see the eye as it disappears. Just like he continues to pretend to not see Cornelius lingering around Thaddeus. He does at some point strike up a conversation with one of the patients he's helping Akh with.

"Have patients been getting called at regular intervals? Or are these wait times atypical?"

The patient shrugs. "Depends on how serious it is, I guess. I dunno, I hear sometimes you can be seen in a few hours. Maybe less." The person coughs in their sleeves as he is being poked and prodded.
