That makes her blush. Maybe she was worried over nothing at all?... all the same... Illia forms a fist with her free hand and punches it up into the air, grinning, "I feel great! I loved it! We'll dance and sing together again, right? Next time in the temple?"

"Absolutely," he says with a nod and a smile. "It's nice to have someone from home to be around. This city is definitely very different from home. In one sense, it's kind of what we hope for, with varied peoples and races living together in relative peace. But it's also a kind of... not nice place."

"Yeah..." She sighs. "I did notice that... it feels very much, you're welcome here if you get here, but if someone steps on you on their way to the top, it's your fault for being in the wrong place at the wrong time or not knowing better." Her shoulders sag a bit. "That's a pretty terrible way to live. Lets people think their good fortune is a sign of doing the right thing."

"Right?" he says with a nod. "All of these factions seem mostly self involved and don't really look out for the people having a hard time. It's so different from Eilistraean doctrine. Caring for others doesn't seem to be a priority to them. Individuals in those factions, sure. I've met some stand of people. But... the factions themselves are pretty much stuck on their doctrines and those doctrines are not considerate of the worst off among us."

"I... well... I've only been here a day," She says softly, "So I can only assume there's a lot I'm missing, but... I really hope that's not the case. It... would explain some things." Illiam looks up, to the city above her. "This place seems almost... stale. I don't know how better to explain it. It feels full of preconceived notions, and little flexibility. But uhm. If it makes you feel any better, I did find a soup kitchen." Illi holds her brooch to her chest as it fills with warmth at the memory. "So there's still some people who care. Maybe you could come with me, help make and serve food?"

Illi nods; she trusts him to know better, given he's been here longer, and has a good head on his shoulders. Gingerly her hand finds Fyne's own, and she squeezes. "People can make a world of difference, acting together. I'm really, really glad we found each other." Her smile's sweet as she perks up. "What do you want to do with your time here?"

"Figure out why my mind was wiped, and see if I can find a way to get back to what I remember, becoming a Reverent again if possible. I had to set aside my duties because I no carry the divine gifts of Lady Silverhair, but I hope to be able to pick them up again someday. But when powerful entities mess up your life, it puts most other things on hold." He seems a bit lost by this, the personal task interfering with what he wants to do and clearly overwhelming to him. But he also has a determination in his tone.

"Maybe when that's done I'll want to go home. But then, this place needs help too."

Her understanding grows. Illiam'iira's free hand reaches up to cradle his cheek.

"There is still one divine gift you carry," She tells him very softly. "Your heart. Though, uhm, I know that probably doesn't give you much comfort..." Illiam'iira sighs. "But I still think it's true. You walk the path of an Eilistraeen, even when she cannot walk with you. Some of the strongest faiths are forged through that lonely darkness." Her thumb gently runs across his cheekbone. "I will help you however I can. I can't stay here forever, but I can stay here awhile and aid you. Maybe that's why I'm here, to speak the Lady's words to you through my voice."

That is the true meaning of her name, after all.

He puts his hand on the one touching his cheek. "I hope that's not true. Not because I wouldn't want your help, but because I feel like you could help many more people that need it far more than I do," he replies with a smile. "And the most faithful follower of Eilistraee that I have ever known wasn't a priest at all, just a simple farmer. If he can hold faith while not hearing her voice, I wouldn't dare to question just because I can't anymore."
