Day 3 LM-EA FL Task: Dinner at *checks notes* the Git’Riban

[L'Orr-hui]

It seemed the Free League was in need of a diplomat and someone in the organisation had asked L'Orr-hui to fullfill someone who had came up with a case of unwanted xaosist.

Fair enough

While the illithid was no diplomat, they at least could entertain a polite conversation. Surely the people whom they were going to meet would understand.

The document they were given had seemed to have not gone unscathed from the morning's chaos, however, as only an address was readable. The location was not too far, good enough, but seemed to be an inn or tavern, not optimal, with the picture of a slain red dragon as an emblem.

The name had been smudged with paint.

Damn Xaosist

They would damn the xaosist more internally after they had entered the edifice and recognizing it too late as a gith establishment.

[The Mighty Tarrasque]

Before the feeling of eyes, before the feeling of minds, there is the overpowering projected feeling of hate.

A voice echoes through the space, "The only reason you're not already dead is your kind always have a... plan." A tall, gaunt figure steps down a set of stairs; dressed in elaborate looking armor, the figure is golden skinned, silver eyes framed by an unbelievably large shock of pitch black hair. As they walk down the stairs, their hair blows slightly in a non-existent wind, a silver-bladed weapon slung over their shoulder. One would be forgiven for believing that the githyanki are evil; instead, they are what evil wishes it could be.

Other gith appear from the shadows; it is quickly apparent you are surrounded.

The one with the sword grins slightly, "And I'm rather curious to find out what that plan is."

Well, this was not great. Still, he was sent here as an envoy and they had faced worst once. In the shadow of that ultimate threat, this was nothing.

''Plan?'' They began ''I was sent by my faction as a replacement of an indisposed diplomatic envoy. It seemed either someone did not make their due diligence or the xaosist's amusement had a greater impact then anticipated.''

They narrowed their eyes

''Was there ever such an envoy sent here? I am curious''

"An envoy?" For a brief moment, the feeling of hate is replaced by... disappointment? "I didn't think your kind liked to do that sort of work for others."

The one with the sword gestures with his free hand and you can feel some of the others disappear back into the shadows. Then it tilts its head, "Someone really must been trying to play a joke on one of us at least if they sent you. The factions send envoys in here all the time but you can't expect me to keep track of who and when, can you? Everyone's always trying to sway one of us or another to do something for them."

''Most of the individuals of my species do not have the intellectual width to consider other ways beyond their puerile sense of self-importance. Those who do lose it quickly when the Elder Brain of their colony strips them of whatever personnality they might have allowed such thing.''

they replied with unhidden disdain towards that state of affairs

''The Free League does have representatives more sociable then I...'' they pondered for a second ''...but still, there we are. If you wish me to leave, I will. If not, we can have a conversation. I do not believe I am wrong to consider this an unexpected opportunity.''

"Well, you're still on your..." The gith leans to the side slightly, looking down to the bottom of the mindflayer's robe, "You do have feet under there, yeah? Never mind - you're still standing either way, and this conversation has lasted a whole thirty seconds at this point - longer than I'd have thought, so I s'pose there's that as a starting point. No point in ruinin' that yet, after I went through all the effort to walk down here."

The flayer paused, tentacles ondulating, before pulling up their robe by an inch to show their feet and shoe



''Yes I do have feet'' they replied plainly ''And I wear what Estevan calls 'Crocs' as footwear. They are adequately comfortable.''

The robe was released

''What is your view of the factions of Sigil? I am not aware if the residents of this neighborhood favors one over another''''

The githyanki quickly glanced at the shoe; a strange look crossed their face and a feeling of sheer confusion radiated from them for a moment. "I'm uhh... I'm sure they're comfortable. Not sure what some sort of water animal has to do with footwear though."

They shook their head, "The factions are the factions - sometimes they do things that help us, sometimes they do things that cause us trouble. Sometimes we do things that help them, sometimes we do things that hinder them. Course, not above working for one if it might align with... well, the wellbeing of us. Not that many care about us."

''Politics is a game of power and who gets to control of it's facets.'' the illithid admitted ''But we are somewhat different. Rather the accumulate power we seek to keep it in the hands of the people and protect our freedoms from it's abuse.''

They tilted their head, a soft ondulation was on their tentacles

''This must sound odd coming from one such as I? I learned the value of freedom once my own chains were broken and thus seek to do the same to others.''

"Right lofty goal that," the yanki says with a slight shrug, "but words are wind - you can say a lot of things but it's the actions that actually matter."

"Really never thought I'd be speaking with one of yours this long." The githyanki pauses, "Well, I'm speaking anyways. Not sure if I'd call... nevermind. So pretty much anything sounds off coming from you. But if the two of us can be civil enough for a couple minutes to not tear each other apart, who knows what can happen."
