Dragon Quest III [ME6]

Illia will pause a moment to look at the doorway. Of the corpses -- how are they laid out? Is it a battle met at the door, or the corpses pushing their way in, or pushing their way out? Do they look burned like the doors?

"...huh." She swats away a few flies as she considers whether this is some sort of Blood War mischief, since she's faaaairly sure? Devils use fire against demons in the Blood War.

Her eyes briefly stop on Ikkit, and she asks softly, "You thinking of climbing in?"

Looks like a bloody melee took place here. Choke point advantage, fought for with buckets and rivers of blood. They tried to get in, these ones that is, looks like they managed to break the doors, but it was probably a see-saw motion in the battle. They got in, they went out, they got back in again.

"I can, I think," Illi pipes up. She holds up the lap harp she's been carrying to show it off to Ikkit. "Just got it today." Feels weird to keep her voice low and without emotion, feels weirder recognizing she's not even doing it on purpose. Considering this, her gaze settles on Quev; if she does cast the spell, it should be on him, because he's... not making it up a rope. Now the drow eyes the nearest balcony.

"Miss Akh, how close do we need to stick to you for your powers to protect us?"

"I prefer the direct approach," Cyprian chimed in. "But I could carry Akh up and help pull up Sir Quev if necessary. Completely up to you Akh."

Climbing up the tower really wouldn't be that difficult, even with Akh on his back. But given the tower's state, it seems like more effort than it's worth.

[Ikkit the Bastard]

"Direct, huh? Reckon that bebilith's still back there, if y'wanna prove it..."

"No more than 15 feet." Akh said. "Some of the dead hewn into the walls are restless. If climbing separately is chosen, being attacked or just pushed off on the way up is a real possibility... I don't think I will be as useful being carried, Cyprian." She picked up a nearby bone from a skeleton that looked like it had descended from the tower, crushed it, and scrapped out some of the old marrow to lick. She wanted to know more of what had transpired and what was to be expected on the way up.

The marrow tastes of pain, of metal grown around and through limbs, nerves, veins. And even when death came that wasn't the end, a vile magic brought this form back, time and time again, all to be a decoration.

For what had transpired, you see red dragons in the sky, a battle forze of baatezu descending on the tower, cackling and howling like mad, driving before them a mercenary force of men, orcs and yugoloths. The battle was bloody, and many twisted forms were dragged by force out of the tower by the baatezu. They had gone a long time ago, with the remnants of the tower's defenders.

[Akh Uur Hoon]

She put down the tormented bone, remorse colouring her eyes when she looked up.

"More than anything else, it looks like a forsaken battleground of the Blood War."

She nevertheless took steps forth, looking for anything out of the pattern that would help her discern whether the space was still in any way occupied, and if so - by whom.

The atrium right inside is populated by nothing more than corpses and offal, all of it colored a heady mix of ash Grey, black, and red by the fires and turmoil.


That being said... Off in yhe distance, you can hear something akin to infernal chuckling...

Cyprian rolled his eyes at Ikkit, nodded at Akh, and also already reckoned the tower was empty. He softly asked Akh once more, "Do you have a preferred approach?"
