"Hi miss Akh!" Illi gives the Dustwoman a wave and a smile! "Good fortune to you! How goes your morning?"

During one of her walks around the Lady's Ward -- something she was prone to do in the mornings -- she happened to notice a small group of familiar faces gathered around -- and drinking -- from a city fountain? Not that she cared one whit about any laws prohibiting such a thing. Of course, she was mildly curious about why everyone was gathered here at the exact same time, but it didn't matter much at this point.

She walked up to the edge of the fountain and asked very simply, "What's with the fountain?"

"If you drink from it, there is a seer who will read your fortune." Whisper explained as he approached. "The water's fine. Hush drinks from it all the time."

A large green hound stood beside the genasi.

"How long has this been going on?" Mysti asked -- directed at Whisper mostly, but anyone could answer. "Not that it really matters. I just never heard of such a thing before."

Mysti chuckled in a rather feral way as she picked up the ladle and dipped it into the water.

"I have a pretty good idea what my future will be. But ... who knows. Why not."

Then she drank the water, putting the ladle back on the fountain's edge. Then she waited for something to happen. She looked at Whisper and shrugged.

[Whisper]

He shrugged in return and pointed to the seer. "Now, we talk to Black Marian."

[Mysti]

"Where ... who ... that person?" She gave this Black Marian person a nod.

"Alright, then," she said minimally and began loping over to this person.

[Makeshift]

Black Marian standa in repose by the fountain, as all these eager claimants for Fate, flock to her melodies. As they all take a sip, and sing melodies of sorrow, hope, and deep things that they barely know they felt, she listened.... And then she made sense of them, with kind, silken whisper.

"Hey! I'm one of them suckers too!" She sticks her tongue out at Cyprian even as she hugs him. "I'm just glad it worked out so well." Illi waves at Whisper before giving a long sigh. "'Sides, I am a little curious 'bout this lady... I wanna see how good she is!"

Akh Uur Hoon was also drawn to the commotion, seeking out Cyprian. She appeared out of the blue, creeping like death onto the gathering.

"What is this about?"

When she realised what was going on, an urge pushed her to engage Black Marian... A powerful seer seemed like one of very few opportunities to give her a chance at finding a pathway toward the reintegration of her soul. She asked for her fortunes to be told, and listened to the divination... with growing understanding.

"A prison of ossiferous innocence... Bones going clickety clack in a head, something bound, small and afraid.... Behind all a laughter, and Fate with talons like knives... Lost and white as bleached bone..."

First thing in the morning, Thaddeus heads over to the Lady's Ward to see a seer. He could feel they were drawing nearer to the codex and he wanted a little insight into the possible futures.

Reaching the fountain, the weather outside was delightful... a terrible omen for the day. He watches as others make their way to the waters, take a ladle, and drink of the fountain's bounty under the perceptive ears of Black Marian.

Waiting for his turn, Thad says a prayer to the Great Khan for Guidance. Feeling optimistic, the satyr steps up to the fountain and brings a full ladle to his lips and drinks deeply.

So many people, so many minds desperate to be bound by a future predicted by another.

The illithid observed the proceedings from afar, the lines of people hoping for scraps of prophecy many of them would never understand. They refrained from showing overt disdain for the affair: they should respect these people's beliefs as it is their freedom do do as they wish.

No matter how much is wasted.

Still, in the throngs of the weak of will perhaps one would come to seek to be unshackled from a future foretold. That would be an interesting discussion.

Cyp showed up despite feeling quite low from yesterday. He didn't much like fortune tellers - after all he too had been a con-artist once upon a time in Zobeck. First comes the negative fortune, then one pays out the butt to avoid the fortune by seeking the teller's 'wisdom'. It's all a scam so why is he here?

In a word, Illiam. She had pestered him into coming.

"Good morning Thaddeus, Illi." He said groggily despite his mug of coffee.
